Swordfish Scene
August 2007

Sword fishing out of Fort Lauderdale is truly spectacular. We have some of the best sword fishing in the world just minutes from our inlet.

Lunkerdogs sword fishing team is made up of true professionals. Captain Turtle and his first mate Chris are the most aggressive crew in the swordfish scene right now and it shows. According to Chris’s impressive swordfish log book they put a sword in the boat an impressive 82% of the time. These stats are hard to argue with when you look at there tournament record; placing in the last 3 out of 4 tournaments and taking first in two of them. Along with Capt Jeff and the NV, Turtle and Chris are going into the third an final leg of the "Broad Bill Circuit" have a commanding 1st place lead.

Lunkerdog is fortunate to have a year round fishery, the right equipment, the right boat and the best Captains and crew anyone could ever ask for.

Earlier this week I get a call from my father. His Bahamas plans fell through due to some bad thunderstorms. So he wanted to come over and visit, he asked if I would get my brother together to go swording. Considering that this was the man who taught me to sword back in the late 70's I was eager to show him the new school at their best. I told him I would get the team together and give him our absolute best. I immediately called "Tuna Chaser" and "General Turtle" and explained the situation. Their response was we will be at the boat at 6 ready to rock!

We headed out to the Sword grounds complaining about how poor the swording has been the last few weeks. We got the spread out nicely about 8 PM and had a 4kt drift due north and things seemed perfect. Nothing til' midnight, when the softest strike you could ever imaging goes off on the line just 30 feet under the NV.
"Tuna Chaser" does a fine job of hooking the fish as my brother harnesses up for his first sword.

2 hours and 15 minutes later after one crazyfight we put this nice fish into the cockpit of the NV.

I always believed fishing with family is special and tonight was as special as it gets.

This was a big night for Team NV and I would like to thank "Tuna Chaser and General Turtle" for always bringing their A Game very time they come.

Good luck out there and be careful!
