Last night I had the pleasure of taking James a fly fisherman from Cali who was in on business inshore to see what we could catch on fly. There were tarpon all over the place but they were very finicky. I decided to use live bait while James threw his 10 wt.
For the most part the fly out fished the bait but we just could not land a lunker with it.
James got the first strike by a nice tarpon but it missed the fly, then a big snook grabbed the fly only to break the leader on some structure. Shortly after a nice little tarpon inhales the fly, James gets a nice jump out of the fish but the hook pulled.
Late in the trip the fish really turned on blasting baits all around us, we managed to land these two
James great job throwing that fly all night and great skills.
