Tarpon & Snook Fishing Fort Lauderdale Aboard Lunkerdog
When I heard that my friend Payam from Jacksonville has never caught a tarpon, I knew exactly who to call. I have fished with Captain Jeff before and it is always a pleasure to be aboard with a skilled captain and all around good guy.
My good fishing buddy Scott also came along as he has had some bad luck with tarpon recently and needed to get the momentum in his favor again.
The objective was simple, let’s get some tarpon and a snook or two would be a bonus. The tarpon were busting baits all around the boat. They were doing their thing nicely while we observed and captain Jeff got us each setup with a bait.
We had baits in the water for 5 minutes when Payam yells, “fish on!” He had a nice fight with his smooth Quantum Cabo Spinning Reel. The tarpon was a beauty and at about 20lbs or so (my favorite size on light tackle), it gave us the opportunity to catch and release it fast, while Payam checks tarpon off his list.
The rest of the night we had great action. I hooked into the biggest fish of the night and it put on an incredible show. We landed the fish, took a photo and released the fish.
The grand total of the night was 5 tarpon and 4 snook.

Mike Grim from Reelreports.com is on my Cherry Picking list. This list consist of people that live somewhat locally that fish when the fishing gets really good and they can go on the drop of a dime.
