We fished in the Billfish Challenge Tournament last week. Fishing had been slow during the pre-fishing, North from Boca Raton to Fort Lauderedale was really poor so we decided to head south and fish off Miami. The water looked great with a pretty deep blue color. We put our spread out behind the boat and within seconds the first sail fish of the day eats the long kite bait. Quicly releasing the sail fish we reported the first of the day. We were able to get another three to the boat, but missed even more. We went 4 for 10 in the first three hours and were feeling pretty good about things until the fish turned off for us as the other boat caught up and passed us by.
It was a great tournament with about 65 boats releasing over 260 sail fish in one day.
I wish the fishing was like that all the time.
